Letters (Correspondence)

This collection consists of one letter written about Professor T.A. Alford by a former student, recalling the positive influence Professor Alford had upon him as a Purdue student.

The collection consists of one letter written by William E. Arganbright to Dr. Robert L. Thompson, Dean of Agriculture, September 9, 1991. The letter addresses Arganbright's experiences while a Purdue student, including time serving in the Indiana National Guard Battery B, from the perspective of a then ninety-seven year old man.

This collection contains one letter from Eleanore Cammack, Order Librarian, addressed to Mr. Whitman Bailey, dated May 13, 1948, and two short notes.

Copy of "High Flight" poem by John Gillespie Magee Jr., affixed to board. The poem was taken by Eugene A. Cernan on Apollo 10's mission to the moon, May 18 - 26, 1969. It is inscribed by Cernan; "To Mitch Simmons - So as never to forget we took this copy of High Flight to the moon on Apollo X 18-26 May 1969.  You above all can appreciate it's significance, Sincerely Gene Cernan."

The letter of authenticity was signed by Cernan on August 25, 2010 and is housed with the poem.

The Class of 1903 collection contains a class directory, letters, newspaper cutouts, and a newsletter sent by class president Charles C. Albright.

The Class of 1915 collection contains a scrapbook, a memory book, two volumes of bound letters, directories, yearbooks, booklets, programs, photographs, newspaper clippings, and various other documents related to members of the Class of 1915 during and after their time at Purdue University.

The collection relates to Janice Voss' involvement with her first space flight, STS-57 (in 1993).  Included are three photographs of the mission, an autographed mission t-shirt, and a letter written by Voss to Comstock.  These materials would be useful to researchers interested in the history of NASA flight missions, women in space, women in STEM fields, and space research.

This collection contains papers, clippings and photographs documenting Dorothy Stratton’s life, especially her role as Purdue Dean of Women and Director of the USCG SPARS.

Purdue University Drill Team collection (2017; 1 folder) documents Purdue University President Mitch Daniels' acknowledgement of the Purdue ROTC Drill Team's accomplishments during the 2016-2017 academic year. Types of materials include: letters, proclamations.

The papers contain correspondence between President Jischke and Alice Rowen Easley, "Aunt Alice says...," a book by Easley and a picture of Easley's son, Mark, with a picture of the framed note from Jischke, which was a Christmas gift to Alice Easley.

The collection consists primarily of papers sent to or collected by Ruth Bender including letters from and clippings relating to Helen Schleman, Dorothy Stratton, and Beverly Stone. In addition, there are typed poems written by Goldeen Papenguth.
