World War Two and Retirement, 1924 - 1972
Scope and Contents
This subseries includes correspondence, documents, photographs, clippings, and artifacts from Cornish's service in World War Two and the years leading up to his retirement in 1958. Artifacts included are various military pins from the entirety of his military career. Other items of note are correspondence from his service as the Chief of the Flight Operations division in Washington D.C. during World War Two, his military personnel file, and newspapers from World War Two depicting the United States' entering the war in 1941 and the end of the war in 1945. A couple documents from the military personnel file are dated prior to his service in World War II.
