This subseries includes documents, photographs, clippings, artifacts, manuals, and correspondence from Cornish's service in World War One and with the Army Reserves. Artifacts include a military service flag and a sewing kit. Other items of note are correspondence to family during World War One depicting his first flight and the Spanish flu epidemic, photographs and clippings from his early years serving in the military, and a military service flag from World War One.

This subseries includes materials related to Cornish's time as the first director of the Aeronautics Commission of Indiana from 1945 to 1953. Included are photographs, clippings, and correspondence. Of note are a desk diary from 1953 and letters of disappointment from friends and colleagues learning of Cornish's replacement as aeronautics director in 1953.
Awards and Accolades, 1926 - 1997
This subseries includes awards, certificates, and framed objects that Cornish received over his extensive career and numerous accomplishments as a pilot. His posthumous induction into the International Forest of Friendship occurred in 1997. Of note is his Guinness World Record award for being the oldest actively flying pilot at the age of 96 years, 279 days as of August 16, 1995.

This subseries includes clippings, photographs, correspondence, and booklets related to airports in the Fort Wayne, Indiana area. Of note are many clippings and photographs depicting Cornish's management of the Paul Baer Municipal Airport from 1934 to 1941 and information on the now defunct Guy Means Airport.

This subseries includes various documents, photographs, and clippings related to airlines, aircrafts and equipment, airmail, and museums in Indiana dedicated to aviation history. Of note are clippings on the start of Airmail in Indiana in the 1930s and a proposal for an aviation history museum on the Purdue University campus from 1990.
