Scope and Contents

The collected articles on Deng Jiaxian document some of the press releases after Deng Jiaxian’s death. One is an article by Jack Alkire, writer for the Journal and Courier, which details Jiaxian’s connection to Purdue and the link to China. The other article is from the Beijing Review, a "Chinese Weekly of News and Views," the content of which details why Jiaxian is considered China's "Father of the Atomic Bomb." Biographical Information

Deng Jiaxian was a Chinese physicist, known as the Father of China's Atomic Bomb. He was born on June 25, 1924 in Huaining, Anhui Province, and graduated from the National South-West Associated University in 1945. He earned his doctorate in physics at Purdue University in 1950 then spent his career working in physics research in China.
