Includes an envelope with hand stamp commemorating the world's first airmail flight when Prof. John Wise set off with 123 letters for New York City from Lafayette, Indiana by balloon on August 17th, 1859. Stamp also features a Purdue airplane piloted by Capt. Lawrence I. Aretz from Lafayette to Indianapolis on May 19th, 1938. Letter sent to J. Hange Nagel of 115 Belle Plaine Ave., Park Ridge, IL. on May 19th, 1938 at 10:00 am.
