Scope and Contents

The Subject Files series contains records of various formats and types which Bands grouped together by their subject. Subjects largely revolve around people, especially guest artists and conductors, but also includes trips taken by the Bands, football championships attended, and other miscellaneous subjects. Types of material include but are not limited to photographs, correspondence, biographies, newspaper clippings, itineraries, and promotional material.

Scope and Contents The Professional Career series holds materials related to May's extensive career at Purdue University and is categorized under three sub-series: Teaching, Writing and Research, and Professional Activities. A large portion of this series includes writings and research May conducted in addition to her teaching duties, and also her participation in many professional organizations such as the Children's Literature Association. Scope and Contents This sub-series includes documents, pamphlets, photographs, planners, and electronic media related to professional activities May was involved in during her lengthy career at Purdue University. This includes conferences, residencies, programs May was involved in, and book contracts. Of note are materials on the e-journal May co-edited, First Opinions, Second Reactions, her involvement in the Old Master's Program at Purdue, and the creation of the Lloyd Alexander Essay/Scholarship award....

The calendars series conists of daily calendars Colwell used throughout her extensive career. All calendars in this series are daily record books where Colwell would note appointments or meetings, in addition to other notes. Some have been restricted for the presence of personal identifying information. Also included are pocket address books and six-year planners.
