The G. Stanley Meikle papers outline contributions Meikle made to the Purdue Research Foundation as well as published works concerning his professional career at Purdue University. Personal items are included in the collection such as a briefcase owned by G. Stanley Meikle as well as documentation of his professional contacts with members of industry. An unpublished personal memoir of Meikle's time at Purdue, describes his interactions with Edward... C. Biographical Information
George Stanley Meikle was appointed the first director of the Department of Research Relations with Industry at Purdue University in 1927 by Edward C. Elliott. He surveyed Indiana industries to determine how Purdue could best assist them. Meikle's research helped establish what is now the Purdue Research Foundation (PRF) on December 30, 1930. Meikle was named PRF's first Director of Research and later named Vice President in 1954.
