Scope and Contents
One folder containing correspondence, letters of recommendation, transcript records, documents regarding Sol Boyk's graduate assistantship at Purdue University while working towards his Ph.D. in the Chemistry Department.
The folder also contains a letter written by M. G. Mellon to Mrs. Eleanor Boyk, which describes his fond memories of Sol Boyk and how he stood out as an exemplary graduate student in the Chemistry Department at Purdue University.

Biographical Information
Sol Boyk received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Toledo in 1935. He received his Ph.D. from Purdue University. Sol Boyk was a faculty member at Purdue until 1948. He then returned to Toledo and became President and Research Director of the Ottawa Chemical Company. The company researched organic chemicals, and Boyk contributed to its success.
