Biographical Information
Robert Lee Matthews enrolled at Purdue University as a member of the Purdue Class of 1927. He attended the university for two years, from 1923-1925, with a major in engineering. While at Purdue Matthews earned a letter from the Swimming and Diving team in diving. Post-attendance, he remained involved with Purdue University through financial contributions and attendance at Purdue Athletics alumni events. Matthews attended Coyne Trade and Engineer School Chicago prior to attending Purdue.
After attending Purdue, Matthews was employed by Peerless Electric in Ohio and was an active member of the Cleveland, Ohio Purdue Alumni Club. Per correspondence with other alumni within collection, Matthews distributed photographs of the reunions to other alumni.

Acquisition Information
Materials donated in installments by Nancy Lee Matthews on August 23, 2005, April 2, 2007, February 23, 2010, August 26, 2011, and October 21, 2016.
Processing Information
Photographs and postcards have been housed in polyester sleeves. All materials have been housed in acid-free folders and acid-free boxes. All newsprint has been photocopied and original newspaper clippings have been retained for display purposes, with photocopies made available for research.
