Biographical Information
Ernest V. Claypool was born in Sumption Prairie, St. Joseph County, Indiana, on August 11, 1866. He graduated from Delphi High School in 1883, worked for the Delphi Journal, taught school from 1883 to 1884, and then entered Purdue University in 1884. As a student, Calypool served as literary editor of The Purdue and president of the Carlyle Literary Society. He graduated from Purdue with a Bachelor of Science in 1886 and a Master of Science in 1890.
