Morris Whitmore papers document his time working as a buildings appraisor in Chicago, and the daily logs of his time as Constructing Quartermaster Camp Polk and Camp Stewart, 1941, daily personal journal of Major M.T. Whitmore, Constructing Quartermaser, Camp Savannah, Georgia.

Includes Apprasial Unit Tables for various Chicago apartment buildings, modern office spaces, and skyscrapers, 1931. This was used by the Board of Assessors, Cook County, IL. Includes information on structure, foundations, enclosure, interior, mechanical equipment, and costs associated. In addition, it includes average costs for multi-story apartment buildings.

Daily log and miscellaneous from Camp Stewart, GA. Includes Whitmore's personal journal from December 31, 1940 to September 30, 1941. Map showing Camp Stewart Anti Aircraft Firing Center, correspondence with personnel of J.B. McCrary Engineering Corporation, civilian employee records, key plan for Camp Stewart, plans for heavy bomber stations, and miscellaneous operational sites estimated costs.

Biographical Information

Morris T. Whitmore was originally a member of the 1918 class but upon the outbreak of World War I he enlisted. After two years of military service he graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering in 1920. He went on to become the construction Quartermaster for Camp Polk and Camp Stewart during World War II.
