The Philadelphia Centennial Exposition in 1876 was the United States' first world's fair and was a celebration of the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Officially called the International Exhibition of Arts, Manufactures and Products of the Soil and Mine, the fair ran from May to November of 1876.
