File includes the May 1940 issue of Phoenix Flame, which contains an article about Katherine Bitting on pp. 10-13.
Also included is a letter written by Howard C. Gillespie to Hal Higdon, editor of Phoenix Flame, commenting on an article about Katherine and Arvill Bitting that appeared in the Vol. 35, No. 3 (1960) issue of Phoenix Flame. The article in question contains a reprint of the first page of the May 1940 article on Katherine (found in this folder) and an extended footnote on the life and contributions of Arvill Bitting. The issue can be found in MSF 38, Arvill Wayne Bitting papers.
