Scope and Contents This collection covers the career of the 'Father of the FDA,' Dr. Harvey W. Wiley. Harvey Wiley was a professor of chemistry and physics at Purdue University from 1874 - 1883. He went on to become the chief chemist at the USDA and was instrumental in passing the federal Pure Food and Drug Act in 1906.
