Scope and Contents From the Sub-Series: Roy D. Bridges, Jr. submitted his first application for Space Shuttle Duty (Shuttle Pilot Program) on February 19, 1977. He was not selected the first time he applied and reapplied on October 30, 1979. He was selected as an astronaut candidate by NASA in May 1980.
