The Deputy Administrator of Aeronautics subseries contains material from the period immediately after Armstrong’s completion of spaceflight missions for NASA. Following the success of Apollo 11, Armstrong was assigned an administrative position in Washington, D.C., as the Deputy Administrator of Aeronautics, Armstrong was responsible for overseeing all NASA research involving the development of aeronautics and related technologies.
