The Awards, Medals, Citations collection consists of several medals and medallions awarded to Purdue University and various staff members for their contributions to their respective fields. Medals were created from varying materials, with a majority consisting of bronze in varying sizes.

Historical Information

Medals are created to honor significant anniversaries, occasions, or accomplishments of individuals or organizations. Purdue University has received medals to award or commemorate the work of the university, people associated with the university, and peer institutions, as well as important events such as World's Fairs.

Acquisition Information

Some medals were transferred from the Purdue units that received them. Additional sources of acquisitions unknown.

Processing Information

Medals were kept in their original housings and stored in acid-free boxes.
