Biographical Information
From Obituary: Albert Hartman Daehler was born in Chadwick, Illinois in 1883 to Anna Elise (Hartman) and Louis Christian Daehler. He married Marjorie Barron and they had two daughters, Alice and Mary. Daehler earned his Bachelor of Arts degree (A.B.) from the University of Illinois in 1908 and was an instructor there from 1910 until 1914. He became an assistant professor in 1914 and was promoted to associate professor in 1918. Daehler joined the faculty of Colorado College in 1919 as an associate professor. He was named the Bemis professor of English at Colorado College starting in 1920 and was promoted to full professor in 1921. Daehler served as an exchange professor at Knox College during the first semester of 1938 and 1939. Daehler died after a long illness in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on July 23, 1947.
From Purdue Records: Daehler is listed as an Instructor in English in the 1912 Annual Report of Purdue University. He is also named as an Assistant Professor of English in the Rhetoric Department at Purdue University, as well as a Coach of the Varsity Debating Team and Associate Member of Sigma Delta Chi in 1916. The 1920 Annual Report of Purdue University notes that he resigned his position as an Assistant Professor of English that year.
