I New and Old Maps of Hyperspace: A country ramble through psychedelic human history from the first bite to the last word. UFOs and what they can tell us about the after-death state and the shamanic trance induced by plant hallucinogens, forms the theme of Terence McKenna's 1982 annual lecture to the Institute for the Study of Consciousness in Berkeley. II Tryptamine Hallucinations & Consciousness [missing] :Given at the Lilly/Goswami conference at Esalen Institute in December 1982. The ontologically special nature of the shamanic trance induced by psilocybin, DMT and ayahuasca is discussed as a research frontier. The logos of psilocybin, parameters of extraterrestrial communication, and the future evolution of humanity into myco-mammalian symbiosis are discussed. (90') III Psilocybin & The Sands of Time: 1982 interview with the European edition of "Psychology Today" held at Esalen. More about psilocybin as the vehicle of extraterrestrial contact. Discussion of the current culture crises and the necessary resolution in apocalypse or millenium. Urging a new effort to investigate the content of psychedelic experience into the operating world view. (70') IV Ayahuasca Songs of Peru: Ayahuasca is a potent visionary hallucinogen in use throughout the upper Amazon Basin. Along the Rio Ucayali in Peru, participants in the rite gather with the curing shaman, the ayahuascero, to drink the sacred purga, and to navigate their souls through a nightlong journey of song and hallucination to revivified health and understanding. Don Fidel Mossembite is a maestro, an accomplished folk-chemist, doctor and singer of icaros, magical songs. This recording was made while ayahuasca curing sessions were actually in progress. (70') V The Voynich Manuscript: McKenna discusses the facts of the matter in relation to what may be the world's most mysterious undeciphered manuscript. He then goes on to suggest his own partial unraveling of the circumstances surrounding the Voynich Manuscript and continues from there to use the "unread book" as a stepping stone to some stranger ideas. (60') VI The Definitive UFO Tapes: A Unified Theory of UFOs at last. Is this the answer long sought? Terence McKenna argues for a resolution of the mystery that would set it like a flame at the center of human history. War of the World Views. Ultrabizarre future historiography fuses psychedelics and cybernetics into Gnostic UFO filled with hope for humanity. (60') VII New Dimensions Radio Interview: in this 1983 dialogue with Michael Toms, Terence McKenna presents a devastating overview of mankind's great leap from the trees to the vacuum of deep space. This revealing interview focuses upon the human species' overmind and its connection with the course of history, shamanism in the context of modern society, and UFOs and other extraterrestrial contacts. (50') VIII Dynamics of Hyperspace: Terence McKenna and mathematician Ralph Abraham discuss metaphors, models and images of the occult and hidden dimensions of reality accessible through the use of psychedelics. Implications include the brain/mind relationship, alchemical processes, and the deliberate altering of genetic coding. Recorded in Santa Cruz in June 1983. (90')
