Biorgaphical Information
John Hussey was born in Hillsboro, Ohio, August 19, 1831. He was a graduate of Oxford University and of Lane Theological Seminary and was ordained to the Presbyterian Ministry in 1859. He served as chaplain with the Union Forces during the Civil War and was captured by the Confederates while caring for the wounded at the Battle of Chickamauga. When Purdue University was established the Reverend Hussey became a Professor of Botany and Natural Science. Professor Hussey died in Lafayette, Indiana, December 26, 1888.
