One Purdue University School of Aeronautics and Astronautics black, gold, and white pennant. Pennant is signed on the reverse "FLOWN ON UNITY 7/11/21 S. Bandla #004". Bandla noted that the pennant was tucked into her inside pocket of her spacesuit during the test flight.

Biographical Information

Sirisha Bandla received a bachelor's degree in aeronautical and astronautical engineering from Purdue University in 2011. Bandla was one of four mission specialists on Virgin Galactic's 22nd test flight, Unity 22, July 11, 2021. At the time, Bandla was Virgin Galactic's Vice President for Government Affairs and Research Operations. Bandla became a commercial astronaut with the Unity 22 mission making Bandla the 26th Purdue astronaut and Purdue's second commercial astronaut.

Acquisition Information

Sirisha Bandla presented two pennants, including this pennant, to Dr. Willam Crossley, Head, Purdue School of Aeronautics and Astronautics during a campus visit on September 24, 2021. Crossley arranged with Bandla for this pennant to be donated to Purdue University Archives and Special Collections in 2022.

Processing Information

Pennant has been placed into a protective sleeve and stored in an archival box.
