Historical Information

Owen Hall is one of the twenty-four co-ed residence halls on Purdue University’s West Lafayette campus. It opened in 1957 as a men’s dormitory and was known as "H-1" until 1965 when it was renamed in honor of Purdue University’s first president, Richard Owen. In 1980, Owen Hall transitioned into becoming a co-ed residence hall. The Hussar Club operates as Owen Hall’s student government and has been active since the founding of Owen Hall. Past amenities included a cafeteria, the Busbee grill, and the WMRH radio station, which were converted into office and lounge spaces around the 1990s.
