Biographical / Historical

In 2007, Purdue student, Robert Rotundo approached the Reamer Club, President’s Round Table, and several other campus organizations about creating a memorial for students that had passed away before they could complete their studies. The proposed project received great interest and was quickly approved by the university. Funding for the statue came from the June and Charles Bertsch Foundation, Rex Sebastian, an anonymous donor, and numerous smaller contributions. Rick and Rita Hadley were selected as the sculptors for the Unfinished Block P Statue. The Unfinished Block P Statue is located north of Stewart Center and was dedicated on October 25, 2008.

Acquisition Information

Documents were donated by L. Tony Hawkins and Shane Hageman, February 19, 2024. The Unfinished Block P website was captured and preserved by Purdue University Archives and Special Collections staff between 2016 and 2024.
