Biographical / Historical

Dr. Donald Schuder was a professor who worked for the Department of Entomology at Purdue University. His collection of newsletters come from the time when he was a member of the Greater Lafayette Aquarium Society (GLAS). GLAS was a hobby society that began in June of 1953 and was dedicated for those who were interested in aquarium keeping. Members would share knowledge, ideas, and tips about the art of aquarium keeping at monthly meetings. A newsletter, "Looking Through the GLAS", was sent out each month to its members and consisted of information such as articles about fish care, the previous month's meeting minutes, fish available for sale, and announcements about upcoming events. Dr. Donald Schuder served as the society's first president and remained as a member after his presidency in which he received monthly newsletters from GLAS for numerous years.
