Biographical Information

Aldo C. Leopold was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and grew up in Madison, Wisconsin. Leopold attended the University of Wisconsin, served in the Marine Corps, and completed graduate studies at Harvard University. He then became a staff member of Purdue University where he remained for 25 years. After leaving Purdue, he moved to the University of Nebraska, where he was an administrator, and later to Cornell University. Leopold retired in 1990 as Emeritus W.H. Crocker Scientist at the Boyce Thompson Institute at Cornell.
