Purdue University Rules and Regulations Governing Students collection
Scope and Contents
The Purdue University Rules and Regulations Governing Students collection documents some of the earliest Purdue student rules and regulations. Among the collection are various "Rules and Regulations Governing Students" brochures; pledge forms regulating behavior, "Matriculation Regulations and Pledge," a 1913 Regulations for the Government of Athletics and "Manual of the Corps of Instruction," 1914.
Some of the unique rules and regulations found in the collection are; Dormitory Regulations from 1890; "Rules and Regulations Governing living in the Franklin Levering Cary Memorial Hall," the first building of Cary Quadrangle (i.e. students could purchase two pillow cases and four sheets for $5.00, and the University would launder those); the first rules governing motor vehicle usage (1936), "Regulations Relative to Students Operating Motor Vehicles While Attending Purdue University" and a 1939 "Honor and Honesty" brochure.
Types of materials include: by-laws, brochures, a constitution, forms, manuals, and pamphlets related to rules and regulations governing students.
