Jerome M. Goldman papers
Jerome M. Goldman papers
The Jerome Goldman papers document Goldman's career as a Purdue University student in Aeronautical Engineering, his service in the United States Army Air Corp and his work afterwards as a pilot for United Air Lines, along with his key role in establishing Purdue Aeronautics Corporation and Purdue Air Lines as chief pilot, director of operations, and later vice president for operations and maintenance. Also included are papers from his work with International Learning Systems, the Federal Aviation Administration, and consultant work.
The bulk of the papers include flight manuals and other technical manuals some of which Goldman played a role in writing. There are some papers concerning the Midwest Program on Airborne Television Instruction (MPATI) that was conducted out of Purdue Aeronautics Incorporated, and information about the Playboy plane, "Big Bunny" that was maintained by Purdue Airlines. There are numerous photographs from Goldman's service in the United States Army Air Corps, and from his days at Purdue as a student and staff member of Purdue Aeronautics and Purdue Airlines.
Types of materials include: administrative records, artifacts, certificates, clippings, correspondence, financial papers, notes, reports and textbooks from college classes, flight manuals, technical and training manuals, flight log books, papers, photographs, reports, slides, slide rules, World War II and Purdue memorabilia, model airplanes, and a headset used at the Purdue Airport.
