Scope and Contents

Papers of R.B. Stewart (Robert Bruce Stewart) and Lillian Stewart. For 36 years, R. B. Stewart served Purdue University as its chief business officer, obtaining a reputation for his financial prowess. Materials primarily relate to Purdue University, and include speeches, printed material, photographs, scrapbooks, artifacts, and documents on trusts and funds and financial matters, band trips, dedications of various Purdue buildings, development of Purdue Calumet, the Stewarts' contributions to the local community, their personal lives, and other topics. Included is information on the Purdue Memorial Center (which would later be named Stewart Center in honor of R.B. and Lillian Stewart), as well as the dedication of the land grant mural inside the building.
