Summary

This sub-series contains materials from the various activities Donald Heirman was involved with following his retirement from Bell Laboratories in 1997. Papers include correspondence between Heirman and Purdue University officials relating to the Alumni Association, the R.B. Stewart Society, Global Policy Research Institute, and the President’s Council.

Heirman was also involved with helping establish the Mishawaka Historical Museum in his hometown of Mishawaka, Indiana. He donated his Lionel model trains to the museum. These materials include correspondence with other museum board members, meeting agendas, as well as program brochures for Lionel model train gatherings.

There are audiovisual materials, such as a VHS tape entitled “A Professional Life: Narrated by Donald Heirman”, where Heirman summarizes his career accomplishments.
