Scope and Contents
This sub-series consists of the many awards, decorations and diplomas that Bridges received throughout his career. The first manuscript box contains some of the smaller certificates that were presented to him. The corresponding medals had already been separated from the certificates, so they are housed in separate boxes within Sub-Series 3. Medals and Miscellaneous Memorabilia. Some of the certificates include: Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, and Legion of Merit (First Oak Leaf Cluster).
Also found here are the plaques, three-dimensions awards, and larger certificates that are housed in archival cubic foot boxes. Among these items are: Leithen -Tittle Distinguished Graduate award, presented to Captain Roy D. Bridges in recognition of being the top graduate USAF Aerospace Research Pilot School (ARPS) Class 70B, Edwards AFB, CA; a plaque from his service in Vietnam; B-1 Combined Test Force and USAF Test Pilot School plaques; Purdue University Distinguished Astronaut Alumnus Award; 35-Year Award plaque, presented to Roy D. Bridges, Kennedy Space Center, FL, 2000; Honorary Doctorate, Florida Institute of Technology and Purdue University, along with many other awards of distinction.

Arrangement
The items appear in chronologcal order within their respective boxes. Similar items were grouped/placed into their respective boxes. Since there is some cross-over of type of award in the boxes, the groupings were not designated as official sub-groups, but left at an item listing level.
Processing Information
Some of the holders the certificates were in had begun to deteriorate. For the sake of preservation, the certificates were removed from the holders, the front covers were photocopied and placed in archival folders with the certificates. The holders are retained in a separate box.
