Scope and Contents
The Donald N. Heirman papers document the life and contributions of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) expert and educator, Donald Nestor Heirman. The materials record Heirman’s earliest involvement with electrical engineering at Purdue University to the establishment of his own consulting firm as a leading expert on EMC standardization. The bulk of the collection relates to his career at Bell Laboratories and his involvement with numerous standards organizations, such as the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). Types of materials found in the collection include committee meeting agendas, related correspondences, EMC standard drafts and associated ballots, work reports, conference proceedings, presentations, certificates, photographs, and digitized audio-visual materials.
