This series contains material that document the history of the Indiana Medical College, The School of Medicine of Purdue University, from its early inception to its eventual merger with Indiana University. Subjects explored in the papers include early attempts to coordinate premedical courses with medical schools; merger negotiations between the Medical College of Indiana and Indiana University; merger negotiations and agreements between Purdue University, the Medical College of Indiana, the Central College of Physicians and Surgeons, and the Fort Wayne College of Medicine; the legal dispute and controversy between Purdue University and Indiana University regarding medical education in Indiana; and the eventual transition of the School of Medicine to be administered fully by Indiana University.

Material present includes but is not limited to scrapbooks, newspaper clippings, addresses to the Indiana General Assembly, articles in medical journals, manuscript pages from written histories, financial statements, and articles of agreement.
