Historical Information

The Board of Trustees of Purdue University in June 1921 authorized the establishment of an Extension Service in connection with the work in the Schools of Engineering at Purdue University. The authorization of this service was the result of an insistent demand made upon Purdue University for a more effective means of carrying the work of the Engineering Department and the Engineering Experiment Station to persons not in attendance at the University ("How Purdue University Serves the Industries of Indiana, Engineering Extension Service, Purdue University, Lafayette, Indiana," 1929.)
