Processing Information

Stockdale frequently revised and reworked his plays resulting in many printed versions. Most versions are dated; however, it is unclear if there are significant changes from oen draft to the next. Compositions are organized alphabetically within each sub-series and each title is organized by date with undated materials at the end.

Stockdale changed the titles of his plays and sometimes produced drafts with new or altered character arcks. Works are arranged by the title of th efinal published version or the most recent draft. Variant titles are included in the final description.

In some cases, Stockdale wrote the play and then adapted it for a novel or screenplay so the same title may apppear across multiple sub-series.
