Scope and Contents
The Video and Multimedia Production Services photos (1956-1977; 0.95 cubic feet) document the activity and productions of the IT-unit on Purdue’s campus in the mid-twentieth century. Programs featured in the collection include: Continental Comment (1960-1969), Pathways of Childhood, Linguistic Training for Handicapped, All in Your Mind (1959), Politics in Perspective (1964), Half Time (1969), Money Matters, Consumer Spotlight, Any Gal Can as well as instructional materials compiled by English 100, Education 249, Entomology, and Electrical Engineering 317. Whereas the majority of individuals in the photographs are unidentified, some of the identified individuals in the collections include Presidents of the University Arthur G. Hansen and Frederick L. Hovde, Secretary of Agriculture Ezra T. Benson, Senator Henry M. Jackson (D-WA; (1973), Farm Director Bill Anderson, Irene Stevens, Carolyn McNamara, Jim Miles, Bill Fuller, Jack Forbes, Trena Lewis, various Purdue faculty across departments as well as VMPS staff members Bill Ditsler, John Oppy, Ray Wolf, and Bob Senders. Of particular interest might be the commencement slides of the graduation class of 1969. This collection may be useful for researchers interested in university media productions, especially as it relates to the visual preservation of particular events and moments. Types of materials include: photographic prints, negatives and contact sheets, slides, and framed photographs.
