Scope and Contents

This folder contains the "Rebuttal to Report of Non-USAF Major Aircraft Accident Involving A-10A Prototype, N/N 71-1370," which Bridges wrote after an accident board concluded that the cause of the accident in the YA-10 which Bridges was operating during a landing roll out was pilot error. He believed that the cause was a deficiency in the braking system. The Commander of the AFFTC concurred with his rebuttal, and the conclusions of the accident board were reversed. Subsequent to this accident, anti-skid brakes were installed on the aircraft. A number of photos of the accident are also included.
