Scope and Contents

From the Series: Kildahl kept photographs and newspaper clippings from his plays in thirteen volumes of scrapbooks.

Volume I, 1944-1950, contains plays from 1944 to 1948 from his time at the Pasadena Playhouse. Plays featured in this are "Hedda Gabler", "Fire in His Bosom", and "Verily I Do". Then, 1948 and on contain photographs and newspaper clippings from his time at Purdue University Theatre. In this volume, the plays featured are "Androcles and the Lion", "Merry Wives of Windso", 'Laburnum Grove", "Command Decision", and 'Twelfth Night". Volume II, May 1950-October 1952, features "Oedipus Rex", "Papa is All", "Goodbye My Fancy", "Time of Your Life", "Romeo and Juliet", and "Harvey". Volume III, Ocotber 1952-May 1954, features "The Merchant of Venice", "Playboy of Western World", "Life With Mother", 'Shrew", "Time of Your Life", "Importance of Being Earnest", "Bell, Book, and Candle", "Darkness at Noon", and "Counselor-At-Law". Volume IV, May 1954-April 1957, features "Elizabeth the Queen", "The Moon is Blue", "The Love of Four Colonels", "Stalag 17", "Othello", and "The Rivals". Volume V, April 1957 to May 1959, features "Dial 'M' for Murder", "Medea", "The Other One", "Loeb playhouse opening", "The Importance of Being Earnest", and "Hamlet". Volume VI, September 1959-September 1961, features "Rainmaker", "The Imaginary Invalid", "The Moon is Blue", "Much Ado about Nothing", and "The Marriage-Go-Round". Volume VII, September 1961-June 1962, features "High Time Along Wabash", "Trojan Women", and "Portable Yenberry". Volume VIII, June 1962-June 1964, features "Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter?", "Hedda Gabler", and "Twelfth Night". Volume IX, June 1964, features photographs from his Washington - New York trip. Volume X, September 1964-October 1965, features "Measure for Measure", "Five Finger Exercise", "Promotion to Professor", and "The Visit". Volume XI, November 1965-January 1967, features "Iguana", "Way of the World", and "Look Back in Anger". Volume XII, February 1967-August 1970, features "Children's Hour" and "The Odd Couple". Volume XIII, October 1970-March 1982, features photographs and newspaper clippings of "King Lear" and "The Boys in the Band". This scrapbook also features photographs, letters, and cards highlighting his retirement.
