Biographical Information
On January 11, 1935, Amelia Earhart took off from Wheeler Field (the Army Airport), on Oahu, Hawaii. She reached Oakland, California, the next day, traveling 2,400 miles in 18 hours. Earhart was the first person to fly solo between Hawaii and the continental United States.
