Biographical Information
Verne C. Freeman was born in Bentonville, Indiana, in 1900. He graduated from Purdue University in 1923 with a B.S. in Agriculture. As a student, Freeman was involved in establishing the Gimlet Club and joined Alpha Gamma Rho and Alpha Zeta, later serving in national capacities in both organizations. Freeman worked as a high school teacher and for the United States Department of Agriculture before returning to Purdue to earn his M.S. in Agriculture and teach summer courses in animal science in 1924 and 1925. Freeman joined the staff full-time in the fall of 1926 as an instructor and assistant to the Dean of Agriculture and remained at Purdue in various capacities until his retirement on June 30, 1969.
Freeman served as Purdue University's faculty representative on the Athletic Affairs Committee from the late 1940s until his retirement in 1969.
