Biographical Information
Dale W. Margerum received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Southeast Missouri State University in 1950 and his Ph.D. from Iowa State University in 1955. He was a research chemist at Ames Laboratory from 1952-1953. Margerum joined the staff at Purdue University as an instructor, 1954-1957. He moved up the ranks quickly; assistant professor, 1957-1961; associate professor, 1961-1965; professor, 1965- and now professor emeritus. He was Head of Purdue's Inorganic Chemistry Division, 1968-1973 and Head of the Department of Chemistry, 1978-1983.

The Dale W. Margerum papers consist of miscellaneous papers collected by Professor Margerum. Two documents are related to Dr. Herbert C. Brown, 1979 Nobel Prize winner in Chemistry; letter from the Secretary of the Nobel Committee of the Royal Academy of Science, stating that the Nobel Committee had received Margerum's nomination of Professor H.C.
