Biographical Information
Jean-Pierre Blanchard was a French balloonist who was one of the first individuals to conduct flights in balloons in Europe and other parts of the world. He made his first flight on March 2, 1784 in Paris. Blanchard died in 1809 after suffering a heart attack and fall while in flight the previous year.
