Biographical Information

Belcastro recounts growing up in Pittsburg, PA and his service in World War II as a hospital pharmacist. He returned to Pittsburgh and worked as a pharmacist. Belcastro taught briefly at Duquesne and earned his Masters degree. He enrolled in Purdue for a Doctorate in Pharmacy, which was conferred in 1953. After briefly teaching at Ohio State University, he returned to Purdue as a faculty member in the school of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and continued until retirement. He relates changes in the program and curriculum in the school, the Pharm. D degree. He also talks about service on University Committees, especially University Library Committee where he chaired the Library Director Search Committee in the early 1970's. In retirement, he has continued teaching a "History of Pharmacy" course.
