Biography
Barbara A. Schwartz graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering in the early 1980s. Schwartz completed her co-op project at the Johnson Space Center and worked in the backroom of Mission Control, becoming the first Purdue woman to work in Mission Control. After graduation, Schwartz worked as a Mission Control Center Flight Controller in NASA's Mission Operations Directorate during the Space Shuttle program, was a certified training instructor for extravehicular mobility unit (EMU) space suit, and worked with the technology transfer program for Mission Operations. She also worked in NASA Engineering Directorate, the Space Shuttle Program Office, and the Security Division.
