Biographical Information

Edward F. Degering was born in 1898. He worked as a chemistry professor at Alberta Canadian Junior College and the University of Nebraska before joining the faculty at Purdue University. He later served as Head of the Radiation Chemistry Laboratory at the United States Army Material Command's Quartermaster Research and Engineering Command Laboratories in Natick, Massachusetts.

Dr. Degering authored more than 150 scientific and educational papers and textbooks. In 1963, he established a scholarship and research trust fund for secretarial personnel desiring more scientific knowledge to help them in their clerical positions. It was named in honor of Dr. Degering and his wife, Clara, a high school mathematics teacher who died in 1962.
