Biographical Information
David Kercher earned a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Purdue University in 1958 and a Master of Science degree from the University of Cincinnati in 1967. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force between 1950 and 1954. Trained as a B 36 aircraft mechanic, he was assigned to the Strategic Air Command's 7th Bomb Wing of the 8th Air Force at Carswell Air Force Base in Texas as a fuel-cell specialist mechanic. He was later active in the U.S. Air Force Reserve between 1955 and 1958, while pursuing his graduate degree.
