Biographical Information

Turpin was born in Troy, KS. He received his bachelor's degree in biology in 1965 from Washburn University. He received his Ph.D. in entomology from Iowa State University in 1971. He started his career at Purdue University in 1971. He is the creator of Purdue University's "Bug Bowl", which is an event offering education programs with activities and contests related to bugs and insects. He is a professor of entomoloy and works as an instruction development specialist at the Purdue's Center for Instructional Excellence.
