Biographical Information

Moore was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He served as chemistry department chair at Southern University Baton Rouge. The Purdue University Department of Chemistry recognized the William E. Moore professorship for the first African-American to receive a doctorate from Purdue's chemistry department. Moore received his bachelor's degree from Southern University in 1963 and a doctorate degree in physical biochemistry in 1967 both from Purdue. He was awarded the 2010 Distinguished Alumni award from the college of science at Purdue University.
