Biographical Information

Carlton was born in Owensboro, Kentucky. Carlton joined Purdue as an associate professor of physiology and pathology in the School of Veterinary Science and Medicine. He received a bachelor of science degree in animal science from the University of Kentucky, a bachelor's degree in humanities from Florida Southern College, and a master's degree in animal physiology from the University of Kentucky. He obtained his D.V.M. degree from Auburn University in 1963. He also earned a Ph.D. in veterinary pathology from Purdue University. During his time at Purdue he was named the Leslie Morton Hutchings Distinguished Professor of Pathology. His research interests include nutritional and toxicologic pathology and the study of diseases produced by toxic fungi. He was also known as an honorary member of the Society of Toxicologic Pathologists.
