Biographical Information

From 1946-1989 he was an assistant professor of chemistry at Purdue University and retired with the title of Hovde Distinguished Service Professor Emeritus of Chemistry. He received his bachelor's degree from Xavier University in 1942 and his master's degree from the University of Detroit in 1944. He went on to receive his doctorate degree from Iowa State in 1947. He was head of the Department of Chemistry at Purdue University from 1974-1978. His research interests included organo-silicon chemistry. He is known for the Benkeser Reduction Reaction which has been used in industry chemical manufactoring processes.
