Biographical Information

Asher was born on April 12, 1927 in Gary, Indiana. He received his bachelor's degree from DePauw University in Psychology. He received both his master's and doctorate degrees from Purdue University in Psychology. He was a professor emeritus of Education and Psychological Sciences at Purdue University from 1966-2003. During his time at Purdue, he won the 1987 Research Paper of the Year award from the National Association for Gifted Children. His article, "Conducting Research with Meta-Analysis: A New Direction for Gifted Education" won the award. In 1996, Dr. Asher created the J. William and Katherine C. Asher Endowed Research Fund within DePauw University to support psychological research.
